What We Do
Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging coordinates services for individuals to help them maintain the independence they desire. Services we provide include option counseling, case management, meal programs, caregiver support, respite services, consumer protection, evidence base health programs, advocacy, and recreation and education programs. We serve the following counties in Iowa: Allamakee, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Fayette, Grundy, Hardin, Howard, Jackson, Marshall, Poweshiek, Tama, Winneshiek.
Three NEI3A programs have a statewide or nationwide scope. All three are funded by grants from the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL): the Iowa Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), the SMP National Resource Center and the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) National Technical Assistance Center. The mission of the Iowa SMP program is to empower and assist Iowa’s Medicare beneficiaries, their families and caregivers to prevent, detect and report health care fraud, errors and abuse through outreach, counseling and education. NEI3A’s national centers serve SMPs and SHIPs nationally as central sources of information, training and technical assistance. They also serve as a resource to members of the general public and also to 1-800-Medicare by providing online SMP and SHIP locators.
