Senior Medicare Patrol National Resource Center National SMP Video:
The Senior Medicare Patrol National Resource Center seeks proposals from organizations to develop a national promotional video to provide resources and education that is mission based.

SMPs are discretionary grant projects funded by the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL). ACL is headed by the Assistant Secretary on Aging, who is appointed by the president and serves under the U.S. Secretary for Health and Human Services. Every three years, ACL issues a new request for proposals for the SMP program and then competitively awards grants to a selected project in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

The intent of a national SMP video is to empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education.

The video will provide targeted media efforts that are to support fraud trends seen throughout the nation. For example, the SMPs have seen an uptick in genetic testing scams. Making the public aware that they can contact their local SMP for assistance is important in the fight against national health care fraud schemes such as this. A targeted SMP national video will allow the SMP Center to run a television media campaign for the SMP projects nationwide. It will increase the SMP project’s visibility and ability to conduct health care fraud outreach and education; this includes receiving beneficiary complaints related to suspected health care fraud and/or abuse. The video will need to be 15 to 30 seconds in length.
