Fall Prevention Task Force Looking for Members

posted 1/5/2018 in Press Releases

Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults. One in three older adults fall annually. Those falls may lead to loss of independence and changes in lifestyles.

To help raise awareness and reduce fall risk, Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging (NEI3A) is putting together a fall prevention task force. The Otto Schoitz Foundation has made it possible to provide specific fall prevention activities in Black Hawk County and surrounding areas to help reduce the risk of falls in older persons.  This task force will provide programs and activities to increase awareness of the risk associated with falls in Iowa.

The Fall Prevention Task Force will hold its first meeting on Thursday, February 1 at Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, 2101 Kimball Avenue Suite 320 in Waterloo.  If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of this task force or if you have additional questions, please call Janet Buls, NEI3A Program Coordinator at 319-231-1551.

Empowering you to age with confidence.
