Iowa Centenarians Sought for Special Recognition

In an effort to recognize Iowans who are celebrating 100 years or more of life, the Iowa Department on Aging is launching a call for centenarians.
The recognition of individuals who are 100 years old or older is one way the State of Iowa celebrates our aging population, in addition to increasing public awareness of the many benefits older adults bring to our communities. These men and women have lived through life experiences most of us have only read about in books or seen in movies; their strength, endurance, and collective wisdom inspires us all.
Centenarian recognition will be done differently this year, due to changes made during the pandemic. Everything will be done electronically to ensure a more accessible and streamlined process. The Iowa Department on Aging has a Centenarian Recognition form that can be found at: https://appengine.egov.com/apps/ia/ida_centenarians.
If you or someone you know is celebrating this lifelong achievement of turning 100 or older in 2021, please fill out the Centenarian Recognition form online. The information collected from this release form will be maintained in a secure database. Certificates will be sent to all individuals turning 100 years old during the year 2021.
In addition, the Department on Aging will be recognizing all centenarians, if they so choose, on their website. Every Iowan 100+ has the opportunity to have their own profile which will consist of their first name, picture, and fun information that is shared via the form. These profiles will be created during the month of September and will stay on the Iowa Department on Aging’s website until 2022.
The Department on Aging will also be hosting a virtual event in the late Fall/early Winter to honor all of Iowa’s centenarians. More information will come out on this as the time nears.
To ensure that your loved one receives a certificate for being an Iowa centenarian and that they can be celebrated both on the website and at the virtual event please have the form filled out by September 26, 2021.
